We are Veterans Strengthening America!
Maxon-Van Eps American Legion Post 368 Backus, MN emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. We are an organization driven by ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Our mission is to enhance the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
The Backus American Legion and our Value Principles
A VETERAN IS A VETERAN
We embrace all current and former members of the military and endeavor to help them transition into their communities.
SELFLESS SERVICE
We celebrate all who contribute to something larger than themselves and inspire others to serve and strengthen America.
AMERICAN VALUES AND PATRIOTISM
We advocate for upholding and defending the United States Constitution, equal justice and opportunity for everyone and discrimination against no one, youth education, responsible citizenship and honoring military service by observing and participating in memorial events.
FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We meet the unique needs of our local community.
ADVANCING THE VISION
We educates, mentor and lead new generations of Americans.
HONOR THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US
We pay perpetual respect for all past military sacrifices to ensure they are never forgotten by new generations.
Join Us!
Join Us Now! All Vets Serving Since Pearl Harbor Can Join the American Legion!
Since Congress passed the Legion Act, all veterans who served since Dec. 7, 1941 can join. The Backus American Legion welcomes all eligible veterans to join our post and enjoy the benefits and rewards of belonging to an organization that serves the needs of veterans, youth, the nation and our communities.
We have excellent clubrooms for our social programs, meetings and events which provide a friendly forum for veterans and their families. The inclusion of Cold War Veterans in the American Legion means “these veterans and their family members can now enjoy all the benefits of their service which they so richly deserve,” American Legion National Commander Brett Reistad said upon passage of the act.
For information on joining, veterans can contact Adjutant Les Kunde via our contact information.
Membership applications are also available at the Legion and through the Internet at the following "Join Us" button.
